PostGraphile printed collateral for FOSDEM ’19 event in Brussels.

PostGraphile (formerly PostGraphQL) builds a powerful, extensible and performant GraphQL API from a PostgreSQL schema in seconds; saving you weeks if not months of development time.

The problem

PostGraphile had an opportunity to exhibit at FOSDEM 2019 a two-day event held in Brussels organised by volunteers to promote the widespread use of free and open source software. Excited by the opportunity they had to get their project seen by over 8,000 developers during the course of the event they approached us to help them ‘be seen’ and also offer hand-out printed collateral that’d sell PostGraphile even post-event.

The Solution

We helped PostGraphile do this by producing collateral that could be easily taken with them on their flight from Southampton to the event in Brussels, though they did have to book extra hold luggage! – Better to have too much than not enough.

A pull up roller banner

The roller banner was to sit behind their space at FOSDEM to help PostGraphile be seen from a distance and highlight key features to attendees to get them interested and ultimately engage in conversation with Benjie and Jem.

4 page informational booklet

This booklet was designed to be taken away and essentially sell the benefits of using PostGraphile when creating GraphQL API’s with PostgreSQL. For example if somebody were in a hurry and didn’t have time to talk then they’d find everything they need to know about PostGraphile, PostgreSQL and of course GraphQL post-event. The booklet also offered additional resources that could be downloaded from a URL or scanned via QR code.

Postcards

These postcards would be used to scribble down small details, email address’, mailing address’ to send out stickers or even to thank their Patreon supporters.

Cheatsheets

Cheatsheets would be given out to more technical users of GraphQL and PostgreSQL offering value and resource to non-users of PostGraphile, though these cheatsheets would be branding with PostGraphile encouraging them to check it out.

PostGraphile is a relatively technical subject matter so it was especially important to bring the brand to life but also maintain a solid, professional look and feel, we’re really pleased with how everything turned out and we think it look great at the FOSDEM event!

Print Management

As well as helping with the creative we also managed the print and delivery of all designed collateral. Senior Creative & Brand Manager Stephanie has extensive knowledge when it comes to print and enjoys helping make the process from design to delivery as seamless as possible.

By taking control of the print management we’re also able to do our own quality control checks looking out for any imperfections in the print. Even after we’ve done this ourselves if there’s something not quite right we will ensure it’s put right by the printers so you don’t have to.

If you feel you need a little extra help with your printed items, then get in touch today!

We engaged Hinge to help us prepare our stall at the annual FOSDEM open source conference. Hinge helped us to frame PostGraphile in a way that was approachable to the wide variety of folks who may be interested in our product. This was our first foray into marketing, and we are delighted with the professional looking collateral which really caught the attention of FOSDEM attendees, and resulted in increased downloads of our open source project.
